In pathological conditions, infertile sperm (especially when immobile or necrotic) are devoid of birefringence due to the absence of a correct cell structure.
By studying birefringence and its variations, it is possible to obtain information on the internal structure of sperm and to make diagnostic assessments on seminal samples from infertile couples.
This test is particularly recommended for patients with severe seminal parameter alterations, such as a low sperm concentration, abnormal morphology and total absence of progressive motility.
It is also particularly recommended in cases of repeated reproductive failures in previous cycles.
